She’s associated with several high-profile hospitals in California, and she’s adjusted to a lavish lifestyle mainly thanks to her husband, whose success in the film industry has led him to a net worth reputedly over $60 million.

Life and Career

Joya grew up in a Jewish family in California, and while at school she excelled in her academics. As she grew up, she came to develop an interest in pursuing a career as a doctor, so after matriculating from high school, she then completed a bachelor’s degree, before enrolling at Georgetown University as a part of the medical program.

The private university is one of the oldest and most highly selective schools in the country, known for numerous prestigious programs and alumni consisting of many prolific politicians.

She completed her studies there and then took up her residency in Los Angeles at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Following that, she began a specialization in internal medicine, and has since remained with Cedars-Sinai. The large hospital is known for its focus on advanced technological treatments, and is regarded as one of the top hospitals in the country. She is also associated with the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

Jon is the son of two teachers, and at a young age he developed a love for storytelling. His imagination and storytelling skills were developed thanks to running “Dungeons & Dragons” games with his friends. He was often credited as a dungeon master, responsible for shaping the overall story. He attended The Bronx High School of Science as he was academically gifted, and after matriculating, enrolled at Queens College where he studied for three years before dropping out, losing interest in completing a degree just a few units shy of graduating, and starting to work on Wall Street.

After a year he moved to Chicago, as he started to develop an interest in a career in comedy. He began learning and working with various improvisational groups in the area, which eventually led to his film debut, as he was cast in the film “Rudy” alongside Sean Astin. The film tells the story of American Footballer Daniel Ruettiger, and is considered one of the best sports films of all time, becoming a sleeper hit in the 1990s. Afterward, he made a few guest appearances in shows before moving to Los Angeles to pursue more opportunities.

In 1996, Favreau was hired as the screenwriter for the film “Swingers”, in which he also starred, and which became the big break for both him and Vince Vaught whom he befriended a few years back; the film tells the story of unemployed actors struggling in Hollywood.

As his fame grew, he got more notable roles including a guest appearance in “Friends” and the television movie “Rocky Marciano”. He also starred in “Love & Sex” alongside Famke Jannsen. While working on directorial efforts, he continued making appearances in films, including 2003’s “Daredevil” which starred Ben Affleck. The same year he directed the Will Ferrell film “Elf” starring Peter Dinklage and Zooey Deschanel, which was a huge success, elevating his stock as a major film director.

His next project would be “Zathura”, a film set in the same universe as “Jumanji”. While he worked mainly as a director, he still opted to take supporting roles in projects from time to time.

Other notable projects Jon has worked on include “Cowboys & Aliens” and “The Jungle Book”. In 2008, he worked on the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film “Iron Man”, alongside Robert Downey Jr., which would set the stage for what would become one of the biggest film franchises in history. He also directed the sequel “Iron Man 2”, and would become heavily involved in numerous MCU projects such as The Avengers films and Spider-Man films, in which he has mostly been credited as an executive producer.

His latest MCU project is “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, which deals with the universe in the aftermath of “Avengers: Endgame”.

With his work with Marvel and Disney, he has also been involved in several “Star Wars” projects. He voiced the character Pre Vizsla in “Clone Wars” and also envisioned the first Disney+ “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian” which was released in 2019. The show is set five years after the events of “Return of the Jedi”, following the life of the titular character, a Mandalorian bounty hunter. The series was highly successful during its first season, leading to a quick renewal for its second season.

It became one of 2019’s biggest streaming series, and helped create one of the most recent beloved characters on television, The Child, more commonly known as Baby Yoda.

Personal Life

Joya met Jon in Los Angeles and started a relationship before he’d broken through in the industry. They remained together for several years, and married in 2000; they have three children, one of whom made a cameo appearance in “Iron Man 2”. She is the niece of talk show host “Len Tillem”, who is known for his work on radio and podcasts, and was a part of KKSF News Talk programming during the early-2010s. The couple is very interested in technology and are big fans of fantasy as well as geek culture.
