Matthew Joseph Cohen was born on 28 September 1982, in Miami, Florida, USA, and is an actor, best known for his role in the show “South of Nowhere” in which he played the character, Aiden Dennison. He also played the role of a young John Winchester in “Supernatural”, and Griffin Munro in the soap opera “General Hospital”.

Early Life and Education
Matt grew up in Miami in a Jewish family, and at a young age dreamt of becoming an athletic star. During his youth, he participated in several sports such as American Football, during high school playing for his school’s team and also ran track. He attended the American Heritage School, and afterwards enrolled at Florida State University located in Tallahassee.
Cohen pursued a degree in business, but also developed an interest in motocross – he loved racing vehicles but it was more of a hobby.
Eventually, he decided that he wanted to become an actor, though he still went on to complete his degree. Following graduation, he moved to Los Angeles and began attending auditions.
In 2005, he landed his first big role playing one of the lead characters the television series “South of Nowhere”; the show follows the lives of a family and the relationships among the younger members as well as their friends, tackling issues of sexuality which caused a bit of controversy at the time. It was then that he became close friends with co-stars Danso Gordon and Marisa Lauren, playing characters who were much younger, despite all of them being in their 20s.
While working on the show, he gained several other opportunities, including his first film project called “Boogeyman 2”, though it didn’t receive a theatrical release and instead went straight to video. He also had a few guest roles in shows such as “The OC” and “Medium”.

He also appeared in the horror film “Chain Letter”, which as the name denotes tells the story of a chain letter that kills people if not passed on.
Continued Acting Projects
Over the next few years, Matt committed to working consistently on television, taking up guest roles in “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Nite Tales: The Series”.
He also appeared in several independent films, including “Sunnyview” and “Tai Chi & Qi Gong Basics”. In 2011, he gained a recurring role during the fourth season of “90210”, which marked his first longer-term role since ending his run with “South of Nowhere”. He worked on another teen series based on the “Beverly Hills, 90210” franchise, telling the story of wealthy students who live in the luxurious Beverly Hills community in California.
Two years later, he appeared in the psychological thriller “Windsor Drive”, the directorial debut of Natalie Bible.
The film follows Tommy O’Reilly’s character, an actor who is haunted by his past, with Matt playing a fictional version of himself. Afterwards he had guest roles in “Criminal Minds”, “Melissa & Joey”, and ‘The Client List”. In 2015, he gained another recurring role, cast during the second season of “How to Get Away with Murder”, playing the role of Levi Sutter.
General Hospital and Recent Projects
In 2016, Cohen gained another big role when he was cast as Griffin Munro in the long-running medical soap opera “General Hospital”, actualy the second longest-running soap in the US after “Guiding Light”.
It was originally set in a general hospital, following the story of people who found their lives intertwined with the location. Later on, the show expanded to feature a stable set of characters, mostly families associated with one another. His character Griffin is a former colleague of Lucas Jones played by Ryan Carnes. He stayed with the show for three years, when his character was written out of the show as he left town to look for a more peaceful life.
Meantime Matt had a recurring role in “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders”, a spin-off from “Criminal Minds” and the third in the franchise.
The show ran for two seasons, but was eventually canceled due to low ratings. Late in 2019, it was reported, that Matt would become a full-time anchor and correspondent for the popular weekend show “Entertainment Tonight”, which follows various news and stories from Hollywood, from television projects to new films. They also showcase interviews and trailers.
Matt befriended and later started a relationship with actress Mandy Musgrave, whom he met on the set of “South of Nowhere”, and the two married in 2011. She subsequently became a part of the web show “Giltrash!” as Misty Monroe, and also reprised her role in the film “Girltrash: All Night Long”. Like her husband, she has appeared on numerous programs as a guest. They have a child together, and there have been no negative rumors surrounding their relationship.
