From the very beginning, he knew exactly whom he wanted to become. He enrolled at the Institute of Theatre in Barcelona, where he mastered acting techniques, and then continued further his education and training in Italy, Hungary and England. Afterward, he began on the road to his aim in life.

Acting

One of his first and, at the same time, breakout role was in the comedy-drama “Jamón, Jamón” by prestigious director Bigas Luna in 1992. He then appeared in “Historias del Kronen” (1994), “Perdona Bonita, Pero Lucas me Quería a mí” (1996), and “La Celestina” (1996).

His starring role in “The Lucky Star” (1997) brought its rewards, including widespread acclaim. It turned into a crucial moment of his life, as he won the Premios Ondas, Mar del Plata Festival and Butaca Awards for Best Actor for this movie, famed and reputable awards giving him a chance to go further into the world of show business.

His debut in Hollywood started in 2001 with the biographical and critically acclaimed crime movie “Blow” with Penélope Cruz and Johnny Depp, in which he played a villain. As he said in an interview, this moment and the relation with these two world-famous superstars helped to pave his way to move upwards in his job.

Subsequently, in 2003 he took a part in the action sequel “Bad Boys 2” by Michael Bay as the main antagonist of the movie. This role labeled him as ‘The Tom Cruise of Spain’ and made him even more popular within his motherland and around the world.

The following years he continued by starring in high-profile feature films “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” (2007), “Che: Part 2” (2008), “Riddick” (2013), “In the Heart of the Sea” (2015), and “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” (2018). At present, he co-operates with Amazon Prime, starring in the TV series “Jack Ryan” as the President of Venezuela – Nicolás Reyes.

Jordi Mollà is a multi-faceted person and possesses diverse abilities, and likes doing several things simultaneously. He understands that change is constant in this world and it requires adaptability and courage, and that was one reason why he decided to become a director. He directed two shorts films, namely – “Walter Peralta” in 1993, and “No me Importaría Irme Contigo” in 1995. His collection includes “No Somos Nadie” (2002), “Cinemart” (2007), and “88” (2012). His first work was nominated for the Goya Award for Best Documentary Short Film, but met no success.
