Oh hey gratitude! Anxiety, worry…yalls shit is on pause! ? I post messages similar to this often, it’s truly been a saving grace for me in my life. See I’m a worrier by nature (personality) AND nurture (upbringing). I get it from my Dad. He was smart, skeptical and capable of staying in control of most things. Part of this was amazing and allowed us to be well provided for, but the down side- it’s difficult on relationship. I can’t remember a moment where my Dad was lighthearted. I always wondered when the day would come where there wasn’t something that needed his worry and attention. I always waited for the worry to run out but that’s the thing…worry only produces more worry. Like I said, I get worrying from him. I would worry about worrying if I allowed myself! ? I’m trying my hardest to break the cycle that allowed too much space for worry and anxiety. I don’t want the space for my loved ones to be occupied by my own thoughts unknowingly pushing them aside. Life experiences teach us things and if we aren’t careful the pain of them causes us to crave control in an attempt to avoid another ouch. Worrying makes us feel somehow more in charge, like our worry puts in work. It doesn’t. It undermines your strength for today and robs you of your joy in the moment. Worrying is betting against yourself, against your future. I have learned to plan like my Dad did but minus most of the worrying. It still come, shiiiiiiit it still comes hourly sometimes but I shut it down with gratitude. I plug my power into thankfulness and from that position the best decisions are made and relationships deepened. #Thankfulness #Gratitude #InterruptAnxietyWithGratitude #BePresent #LiveHere #NotInYourHead #MomOf2 #RecoveringWorrier #TakeControl #PlugIntoThePowerOfPositivity

That helped a lot as the family was well provided for, but these features of her father made it difficult for Jennifer to deal with her own feelings and relationship she had with other people: ‘I can’t remember a moment where my Dad was lighthearted. I always wondered when the day would come where there wasn’t something that needed his worry and attention’. However, Jennifer is now working on her anxiety and worries being aware of the reasons of these feelings, and it goes well.

Since her early years Jennifer has liked reading books, drawing and painting; she’s also liked swimming since she was five years old. Jennifer shared that her mother has always been very supportive; she once even agreed to celebrate Jennifer’s birthday on 4 April instead of 4 January, as Jennifer complained she couldn’t stand the cold and gloom of winter and wanted her birthday to be transferred to Spring. To her amazement, her mother agreed!
