Jeffrey R Wittek was born on 15 December 1989, on Staten Island, New York USA, so he holds American nationality and his zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He doesn’t share a lot of details on his parents’ life, though it is known they are very supportive of Jeff, and encourage him to develop his hairstyling and online career. His parents appeared in one of Jeff’s videos on his YouTube channel, entitled “SURPRISING PARENTS BY BREAKING INTO THEIR HOUSE”. His mother conspired with him to prank Jeff’s father, and Jeff broke into his parents’ house imitating the robbery.

However, his father wasn’t scared, so to find out what was going on in their bedroom he went to find Jeff there, standing and laughing. Jeff also shared his parent’s wedding photo on his Instagram account; the post was sponsored by Old Spice, and Jeff recreated the photo of his father by wearing a similar suit, standing in a similar way and making his hair look like his father’s, stating that his dad was his inspiration during all these years. As of 2020, Jeff is residing in Los Angeles, California.
Jeff matriculated from his local high school in New York in 2007. Later he had several barber courses, but he didn’t enroll at any college, pursuing his barber career.
All Truth About Jail
Before gaining recognition for his hairstyling talent, Jeff was a drug dealer to make a living.
On 3 February 2011 Jeff was arrested and accused of dealing and possessing drugs, reportedly cocaine, marijuana and other substances he possessed illegally. His bond was as high as $61,000, and he spent more than half a year in Wayside LA County prison. Sharing his experience of spending several months in jail in his interview on Durte Dom YouTube channel, Jeff said that jails in Los Angeles are overcrowded, and supposed it should be illegal to keep so many people in such conditions. He said that he had problems with such simple things as having a shower, as the bathroom was always full of people, and some of them were not even going to wash, just hanging around.
Jeff was so scared and confused that the soap he was holding slipped out of his hands and flew away to the different side of the room.

He also admitted that while in the jail, he couldn’t get rid of the fear of being killed. He also stated that nobody worked there in jail, staring at the wall all day long, having only one hour of walking outside of the building a week, not even each day. However, Jeff understood he was doing wrong when dealing drugs, and so changed his life after his release.
Social media career
While developing his career of a barber, Jeff started posting the results of his works on his Tumblr blog, entitled “Behind The Cuts”. He shared his “work in progress” pictures, giving some tips on styling the hair properly, etc. He also created his account on the application called Vine, and started gaining even more popularity, posting his videos under the nickname American Jeff.
On 9 September 2011 Jeff started his YouTube channel to upload his vlogs and hairstyle videos. By 2020 his channel had become very popular, attracting more than 2.1 million subscribers, to view more than 70 videos he’s uploaded – one of his most popular is entitled “GIVING DAVID DOBRIK A NEW HAIRCUT | Jeff’s Barbershop” with over 6.6 million views. He often invites TikTok stars, his YouTube fellow vloggers and other popular people to have their hair cut or dyed.
He recently posted the video of him dying Jay Sage’s hair pink, and Jay, who is a popular TikToker said that she adored the result, though the video is entitled “I DYED THIS TIKTOK STARS HAIR AND SHE HATED IT | Jeff’s Barbershop”.
Controversial video with the homeless man makeover
Another which Jeff posted on his YouTube channel was his second popular video entitled “HOMELESS MAN MAKEOVER AMAZING TRANSFORMATION *heart warming*”, which caused various reactions from the audience, and attracted more than 6.3 million views. Jeff knew one of the homeless men surviving on the streets of Los Angeles, found him and invited him to his house for a makeover. He offered him a shower, a change of clothes which he gifted, and eventually cut his hair and beard.
Even though Jeff’s motives were clear and positive as he was trying to help at least one homeless person, his viewers blamed him for using the man for achieving the clickbait video title, stating that the man, who in fact was an alcoholic, needed some serious help and a rehab, rather than a new haircut.
The homeless man himself could hardly understand what was going on with him, as he almost fell asleep during the haircut, and then losing his balance falling on the floor when leaving Jeff’s house.

In 2018 Jeff landed the role of Captain America in the short film “Superhero Therapy”, and also played Mike in the TV mini-series “Stories from Our Future”, appearing in the episode “Getting to Know You”.
In 2012 Jeff started his Instagram account to support his YouTube channel, and to attract more subscribers; as of 2020, Jeff has more than 2.8 million subscribers. The first photo he posted was his mug shot taken in 2011. He often posts mutual photos with other social media personalities, such as Zane Hijazi (who is an old friend of his), Christian DelGrosso, and many others. His account attracted a lot of major sponsors too, so he regularly shares posts sponsored by Old Spice, Colgate, and many more.
