Early life and education
Ana was raised in New York City by her father, Angel Ortiz, who is a politician born in Puerto Rico, best known for being the first Latino man to join Philadelphia’s City Council, and her mother Kathleen Kulhman who is a housewife. Ana has a sister, Lydia Pilar Ortiz and a brother Angel Omar Ortiz. She became interested in dancing at a very early age, and her parents enrolled her at a ballet school where she trained for the next eight years.

After ballet became too harsh on her feet and the pain unbearable, Ana decided to focus on something else and chose acting and singing. She enrolled at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, and after matriculation at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre in 1993.
Roles in theatre plays and movies
She made her debut appearance in a play in “Dangerous Liaisons”, while she was still attending college, and she went on to appear in many others, including “Dog Lady and the Cuban Swimmer” and “References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot”.
The first film in which Ana appeared was “Condition Red”, released in 1995, and was followed by her role of Isabel in “King of the Korner”. They dated until 2006 when Noah asked Ana’s father for his blessing, and then Ana to marry him. The wedding took place in Puerto Rico on 9 June 2007, and two years later on 27 June 2009, Ana gave birth to their daughter Paloma Louise Lebenzon, while their son Rafael Lebenzon followed on 24 September 2011.
Ana was six months pregnant carrying Paloma when she was shooting for the third season of “Ugly Betty”, and only two months after Paloma was born, she returned to shoot the fourth season of the series.

Ana enjoys spending her free time outdoors, hiking in the mountains and camping, while she is also keen on travelling and has been all around the US as well as to many European countries some of which are France, England and Sweden. She has trained in several sports, some of which are kickboxing which is her favorite, tennis and soccer among others.
